You are probably right about 'taking the plunge', though the dovetail conversions Ive seen look mighty good. I found one site that tells the Marbles ramp part # and you remove the whole S BH sight to do it, then can fit in any of the medium width selection of typically rifle sights. IIRC the Ruger base under the attached blade runs about .340 wide and I have the DT cutter already, so its relatively easy for me to cut off the blade, mill it flat, cut the DT to the proper depth and fit any of the Marbles, etc. selection without removing the base at all.
Im surprised that Ive found scant info online, short of the expensive custom 'smiths, for this, it ain't that unusual or hard.
