Making Wax Dirt

I know we had the wax dirt disscusion last summer. But with the hot weather we have been having now is certianly the time to think about making dirt.  I'm sure not everyone has a drought going like we have here. But I think most everyones getting the hot days that really melt wax. Here it's so dry everywhere that even if you just want dry dirt for trapping. It would be a good time to fill some buckets and stash them in the shed.
Also not a bad time to dip traps as they would certainly be aired out before season.  I know no one wants to stand by a pot of boiling water or wax. But even if you go that route in this heat. It takes less gas or what ever you use for heat to get the pot to boil and wax to melt. So there are some advatages to this heat.

Ditto on what Mac has mentioned.  Maybe hot out but its the time to do it now as no time in fall just before  trapping season.   Ive used waxed dirt and its the cats meow!!!!  lol.... but  will be using more peat  this season as have found works just as good, lighter to carry and CHEAPER.   Also do your trap mods, repairs, waxing ect NOW and start the want list  to get at fall rondys to save postage and make sure you get what you want.   You can email, call ect  your trap supplier and have him or her bring to rondy for you.   Do the  work now as come opening trapping season you have plenty of work setting and running yr trapline.   Good luck.

Even if your using peat it's best to get it now. Not only do some places run out and quit stocking it before fall. Some time it's a bit moist in the bags and poking some holes in the bags and getting it in a dry place will cook the moisture out. Mine of course goes back in the wifes green house, She isn't using the thing this time of year so I might as well stor my peat moss in there. It's almost hot enough in there during the day to melt the plastic bag the moss come in.

Mac know what you mean about hot in green house.   Im going to buy my supply of peat moss this weekend.   Dry it and  put it in 50 gallon barrels.
