Sleep Number beds
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:15:34 AM »
I'm getting OLD (will be 40 this weekend  ;) ) and my bones are getting tired.

My wife and I have been tossing around the idea of getting a Sleep Number bed for a couple of years now, but I've been putting it off because that silly bed will take a pretty good chunk out of my play-money.

Do any of you guys have one....do you like it??

We went by a store yesterday and it did feel nice.  BUT, quite a few of the reviews I read online say the bed they bought feels nothing like the one they tried in the showroom.  I've also seen them called everything from "glorified air mattresses" to "the best thing since sliced bread".  What's your take?

We currently have what USED TO BE a "luxury mattress" when we bought it 10 years ago, so it's time for something new.  I've tried everything from basic foam to memory foam on top, and it just isn't cutting it anymore.
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

I cracked a vertebrae and pulled two ribs out of my spine in a car accident in 2003... I spent almost 2 months not sleeping in a bed. I couldn't lay down and the docs didn't "see" my injuries until my second MRI... X-rays showed nothing as the ribs where floating and apparently settled back "in" for the pics... ANYHOW... under advisement of my doctor and physical therapist we went to look for a better bed... almost 4k and we owned a top O da line, queen sized, sleep number bed... This was HARD pill to swallow as I NEVER dreamed 4 THOUSAND would be the price!!! BUT, that first night was absolute HEAVEN... I slept nearly thru the night for the first time in MONTHS!!!

I still have it and WE STILL LOVE IT!!  My friends and family have tired and know my situation.. most of them also now own a sleep number too...

It IS allot of $$  but once you wrap your head around the fact that you spent most of your "time" in this life, on your back, IN THAT BED... Its not so hard to justify the extra $$. Not to mention the rewards in your vertical life, you receive after a good restful sleep, to me, is just not worthy of a price tag...

If you have back pain or don't sleep well, try one....

Tried one for a night last weekend. I was NOT impressed!

But then I sleep on a conventional waterbed at home. 8)

One of the very few items that would be replaced tomorrow if it went "paws up" tonight. Ours is over 10 years old. Best furniture money we spent.

We slept on a Sleep Number for 2 nights and was not impressed. We just recently purchased a Tempuredic Cloud Lux and love it. Best sleep I have had in years and likely the most comfortable bed I ever slept in.
