MARLIN 1895 GS
« on: June 07, 2012, 12:04:37 PM »
Took my Marlin stainless Guide Gun up to the range with a new load this morning. I beleive I have found the round it likes. A 300 grain Hornady HP over 53.1 grains of RE-7. Makes a 5 shot group that fits under a quarter. The recoil is pure hell. I have cleaned up the action and have got the trigger nice and smooth. I have a leupold scout scope on it to help my eyes out. BUT that stock recoil pad has got to go !
Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow

Buy a PAST recoil pad and put the pad on you, not on the rifle.

I have a GG in 450. Nice pig/bear gun but not fun to do a load work up on. I don't shoot it often.
