cylinder issue with 629

I posted this on the gun smithing site also.   I have a nice but used 629 that I have put about 3-400 round through.  Shoots fine but from the beginning there has been some extra minor resistance to opening the cylinder.  The revolver is clean and oiled but just seams to have some friction at the rear of the cylinder when opening.  The latch appears to be functioning ok.  If you have any clues please let me know what you think.  Thanks GG

May want to check the extractor rod for tightness.

That's the first thing to check on a Smith for your problem.
The other thing I'd do is remove the crane/cylinder assembly and slide the cylinder off the crane if you haven't cleaned and oiled them. Carbon will get onto the crane where the cylinder spins on it especially with lead bullets.

I agree with the previous posts and will add that if dirt or powder residue gets under the extractor it could also cause issues.
