I have added QD sling studs in every rifle I own...

Short wood thread for front and std wood thread for butt.

I used a QD swivel kit with screw into the butt and a threaded stud in the forend with a round 'nut' on the inside.  Had to cut a larger sized hole in the inside of the forend for the 'nut'.

And... I used a shotgun kit with a barrel band on a couple of 20ga Pardners.

If it's a 45-70 BC, you'll most likely want to use a traditional muzzleloader type leather sling that attaches to the barrel well above the forend, most either use a butt cuff type or a barrel band mounted front stud. 45 Colt BC Carbines will work with regular sling studs tho with proper attention to the forend stud mounting.

I agree with Tim 100% on the Buff Classic sling set up:

"If it's a 45-70 BC, you'll most likely want to use a traditional muzzleloader type leather sling that attaches to the barrel well above the forend, most either use a butt cuff type or a barrel band mounted front stud."

It's called a Buffalo "CLASSIC", so a classic ML sling set up is the best fit for it with a butt cuff and a simple loop arond the barrel, classic in every sense of the word, and a little fringe or long hanging laces on it would not hurt either and really enhance the classic look....<><....:)

Here's one that was on mine when I bought it.Wrapped around and slid up and down the barrel and a lace up but pad.Worked great and sold with the gun when I got rid of it.Dave

Another good one is the 'express rifle' look, with a butt stud and the barrel band/stud in front of the forestock. The downside for me was that that screw on Uncle Mike's barrel band would shift/twist a bit; there is quite a bit of force being applied on it. It is a good, classic look though, and for safety you can do a simple loop up and over the barrel from the sling swivel so it cant all just drop out on you. 'Google' up 'express rifle pics' and you will see what I mean.

Great looking setup Dave. Thats just what the sling setup on my TC Renegade looks like except the sling on my TC is a buff color. It is exactly what I was talking about. I would like to get one for my Buff Classic now that I have seen this thread. I really like the traditional and classic lace on butt cuff and split leather loop just slid over the barrel with no studs. Thanks for the great picture....<><.... :)

P.S. - great wallpaper/wall art...
