Good luck!  I love catfishing.  However in Ga. it is illegal to use either goldfish, or any game fish for bait.  We use "shiner" minnows, or more often liver wrapped with black thread.

How big do they get up there?  We have a river not too far from me where I've seen flatheads over 40#.

(I've seen 'em but not caught them)

I've pulled a few over 20# though, and it's quite a fight from a canoe or kayak.

I know this is too late for your trip but the Arkansas record blue was caught on a snake. A little cafe just north of Lake Village, AR had pictures of the 90+ lb fish and a bunch of dead snakes they used for bait. Hooked with one hook near the head. Looked like big water snakes or chicken snakes. eddiegjr

I used snake meat for turtle bait when I was a kid. Chopped it in 3-4" lengths and baited the hooks with it on set lines.  ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I saw on YouTube it is a pay to play operation in manmade square fish ponds. They were catching some larger Flatheads and some pretty good sized channels. They were fishing floats sometime only 6" to 8" apart to be over some kind of sweet spot that was holding the fish. I have public access to too many good lakes and rivers in Oklahoma to pay someone to catch  their farmed fish. Some Municipal lakes charge $3 a trip or $25 a year for permits which is not bad.  This time of year live perch are getting some large flatheads and blues (#60 to #80) on jugs and in Lake Texoma.
Deer hunting is mostly fun then you shoot one and it turns to work.

I have been there a couple times it is fun but crowded. The biggest i have caught there was 56 pounds. If you bring them big cats the will buy them from you to put in pond.

I have read many reviews about CFP, all of them positive.    The purists will poop-poo any pay to play facility.   CFP is for someone who just wants to catch himself a big fish, and then go to the catch-out pond for a few to take home.   I hope to get up to CFP next time I get to Ohio.
