Handi Grip Handi-Rifle
« on: July 01, 2012, 05:50:35 AM »
What do you guys think of the Handi Grip? I want a .204 but it seems it is only in the Handi Grip style and I just don't like the looks of it!
It might be great for shooting but it is ugly.

See the Handi-grip review in the FAQs. The 204 is also available in the standard Handi, stocks are all interchangeable on H&R single shots, so you can always swap the stock out, they're available from several sources as well as the H&R classifieds here.

I never liked the looks either, but i recently traded for a survivor stock set (similar to the set on the 204). I put it on a receiver that shares a 445 sm 16" open sighted barrel and a 223 24" ultra barrel. I am very happy so far. Love it with the shorty barrel and iron sights and even more impressed on the 223 after a day of groundhog hunting yesterday.Took 3 hogs and a racoon at ranges from 186 to 312 yards. Only missed once on a moving groundhog at about 260 yards.

204 Ruger (SBS-2T0)

SBS: Will it accept other barrels like the SB2?

I on the other hand like the Handigrip.  Trigger pull length is long, and the comb is lower than the MC.  So I bob the hammer and use a VERY low mounted scope.  I have it on a 45-70 and the long stock keeps my eye a bit farther away from the scope.  I am short and have a short neck.  Only thing I have to compensate for is the buttstock is very light so I have to fill it with sand to get the balance point further back.

Think as if you LIFE depends on it... IT does..!  Be Well...

The SBS model number means it's a scoped combo, the un-scoped model is SB2-2T0.

I like the Handi-Grip, very comfortable!

The comb is not near as low as it looks in the pictures.

I had a couple, I sold them off and replaced them with camp syn...

Everyone is built a bit different, but many will find the comb about the same as a non monte stock. IE too low for good cheek weld for scope use.

The thumb hole does have a nice feel and ambidextrous too!  The hole is large allowing for faster and easier manupliation of the hammer.

As Tim said, watch the classifieds. They pop up from time to time.
