Gardner's Cache 45-70 bullets
« on: June 26, 2012, 01:50:18 PM »
Has anyone done business with Gardner's cache? I want to try some of their 45-70 bullets. Particularly the 485 gr gas checked and the 515 gr. His prices seem really fair and I was wondering if there is a sacrifice in quality due to the low prices. Any pics you have of the 45-70 bullets would be appreciated since his photo is not that great.

I have been buying about 5,000 bullets a year for the last 8 years.  Excellent to deal with as long as you don't mind limited ordering window.  I tried the 300 gr. & 405 gr. in .45-70.  They work fine.  He offers a .459 diameter in the .405 gr.  I will try that next time.  Can't hurt.  I guess it's me with the recoil and open sights but paper plate groups of about 6-8" is all I can manage at a hundred yards with my Handi.   They don't strip the bore and they don't keyhole and you can see the difference in groups with different powders so I figure I'm doing the best that can be done.
