Ruger Super BlackHawk Hunter: Good price? Holster?
« on: January 01, 2004, 09:39:37 AM »
Folks-

Well, I should be out on my 33 acre parcel of woods/fields, working the chainsaw, getting ready to plant food plots for next deer season, but I am not.  The ignition in my 2001 Silverado is busted.   Key won't turn.
So, I am practicing my deep breathing, and getting my mind of that d***ed truck.

I'm waiting on final approval for a pistol permit, and when it arrives plan to buy a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter (Bisley grip), .44 Magnum.  There's one in the display case at the local store: $576.

I also have a good small local dealer who said he'd order me one for $525.  He has a good reputation, and that sound like a good price.

I've seen them online for less, but not much less.  Is about $525 a good price for this gun?

Second, how to carry this weapon.  I frequently pack a climber treestand (Summit Viper XLS), but not all the time.  I wonder if a shoulder hoster will work with treestand backpack straps.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for any input.

I recently bought my SBH 45 Hunter.  Purchased online had shipped here and paid FFL transfer fee and still have only $500 in it.  Do a bit of looking around online and you'll find better prices.  Gunbroker.com and usagunsales.com are what I use to judge prices by.

I bought a Bisley Hunter in 44 mag, paid 470. for it. I put a leopuld scope on it and carry it in a bandito holster from Pistol Packaging.com. The holster I bought is capable of carrying it with or without the scope. A little pricey but im happy with it.

I finally got mine for $499, which was a good local price from an FFL.  No Internet or long drives.  (Other local dealers wanted as much as $550, so I think I did all right....)

I like the gun.
