I use to season my barrel with bore butter until someone told me the muzzleloader barrels of today are made of a much harder steel and seasoning would be next to impossible. Here's an article against seasoning.  http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/251958/pid/918147/post/last/m/1/#LAST
I didn't see any difference in accuracy when I stopped using bore butter, But the bottom line is: I think people should take care of their guns the way they feel what's best. ;)
