Back in the saddle after almost 20 years

Guys about 2 weeks ago I bought a bike out of a Plano Texas shop that was there on consignment. It is a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic with 13000 miles on it. It was garage kept, and adult ridden. It has a Kawasaki Windshield, chrome driving lights, what we used to call "crash bars" with quality highway pegs, custome handlebar grips, Mustang seats front and back (gell) with both backrests, and luggage rack, a leather bib with pouch, and leather windshield bag. I added leather saddle bags, and it has almost new tires. It also has dg hardkrome exhaust (kinda loud), but runs great, has great paint (maroon), with two very small scratches on the right side of the tank next to the seat, and one small scratch on the right side of the front fender. Total tax and license out the door, I paid $6,000.00, and all but the bags came on the bike.  Too much, or about right?

Thanks, and Yea, it weighs 675 dry with out the extra accessories, or gas and oil. It does very well on the road, and after about 50 years of bikes off and on watchin traffic is a gimmie. Their just as bad if your in a truck, only don't usually hurt as bad.

Congrats, Dee! Ain't it grand to be riding after a long time not? We've got nigh-identical threads at the same time. Diff bikes, tho...

Got a Cushman Husky from my Dad when I was twelve. Rode the wheels off that thing till I got old enough for a car. Few years after that went to the old Honda 305 Super Hawks (a couple) then a 750 GS Suzuki, then another Honda, and then the 1983 Yamaha Venture Royale. Put a bunch of miles on all of them. This one will last me as long as I'm able to ride, and it has plenty of size and power for the long hauls, and room for Linda when she gets well.

My first four-cylinder was a 79 GS750E... wonderful bike.

I think my GS was an 83. Supposedly the hottest production bike that year. It was strong for sure.

Dee,I'm heading for Colorado sometime in Sept.You wanna come? I totaled my 08 Goldwing in Cal.about 3 wks ago,and I've got a Ultra Classic now that needs some miles on it. Digger

Ditchdigger, Linda is really sick now, and has been for months, and I don't know how it's gonna play out. My oldest boy rides, and we have talked about all goin to Colorado. Linda and I did 14 days up there about 19 years ago, and it was the best ever trip. I was just talkin to her about an hour ago concernin Sept. When it get closer we'll talk. Thanks for the invite, haven't seen you in a while.
