I'm glad I am not going to be flying commercially anywhere near there.

I'd be very glad if we just stay out of it.  Let those nice benign, friendly countries settle their own disagreements.

On second thought: Since there are a potful of spy satellites flying around that supposedly can read the time on your wristwatch, at least one of them should have seen the track of that jet.

"Our business" at least in a limited way is that Turkey happen to be a NATO brother and we do not need any sparks at all in the ME hence it would be very helpful if the actual course of that jet could be reviewed via satelite images

Turkey is Muslim, but not Arabic, so their culture is more European.  Turkey is small compared to what it once controlled before WWI.  They could easily occupy Syria.  Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan and Arabia belonged to Turkey before WWI.  They have the 17th largest economy in the world and is growing faster than most European countries that are above them.

And as I recall they have either the second or third largest military in NATO behind the US.

Suffice to say Turkey (the Ottomans) can kick the stuffing out of just about all the little Podunk regiemes in the area.

I didn't know that, then imam obama may have to think of another excuse to help his muslim brotherhood take over Syria. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Turkey also has the 17th or 18th largest economy in the world.  They could take Syria in a few days.  Turkey would just like NATO's support so they wouldn't have to do it alone.

When I read the title of this thread (Turkey vows action against Syria for downing jet.), I thought for sure it meant Obwana was taking action.  You can understand my assumption.

When I heard about this the first time I figured Syria either sent fighter jets  or a missile up. It turns out it was AA Arty that brought down the plane which means it had to be very close to their airspace or in fact actually in it.

Well, you take an old Vietnam era plane, give it to Turkey to fly through Syrian air space, and it gets shot down. Now War-in Chief can have her war.
