Thoughts on fiber optic sights on pistol
« on: July 15, 2012, 09:55:32 AM »
Most of my  pistols have  scopes but want to try a fiber optic front sight.  Any thoughts/observations/recommendations?

Ive tried them on a couple pistols and even a marlin rifle. Ive learn to detest them. For one they dont give good sight definition like a good black blade does and the brighter the sunlight the worse they are. Also they tend to attract your eye more onto the sight blade then the target where your eyes should be focusing. Also there fragile. I was shooting a ppc match with my sti comp gun and half way through a string they went flying and my 444 outfitter would break them just from recoil. I dont want something on my gun that will break just from sitting a gun down on the table without paying attention during a shoot and am surely not going to risk a hunt. In all reality they add only a couple minutes of low light shooting anyway. If your serious about a low light handgun sight step up to a trinium.
