I'm not a fan of Will Hayden because of the behind the scenes crap he's pulled. Regardless, the video is great and well worth a watch, so thanks for posting it. I never would have used dogs or ATV's in the field on a traditional hunt, my personal choice.
I started reenacting in 1970, western fur trade era mainly because I lived in the Rockies where they were, held their rendezvous'. My first group was very strictly 100% PC (period correct), so that was a good base to build from. But primitive shoots and the voo's vary from group to group, while some are very strict 100% PC, most are a more loose rendition of it, some even allowing tin teepee's. But they are all getting back to basics to some degree, and are all a lot of fun to participate in.
As a very serious predator hunter for near five decades, the best of the best hunts were those using traditional muzzleloaders, wearing my fur trade persona, mouth calls and traditional gear I made myself, pitting my skills against a worthy adversary one on one. I never hunted hogs with a muzzleloader, but did hunt deer, antelope, elk, bear, small game, upland birds and waterfowl traditional.
It's too bad traditional is dying out, and with mostly only us old geezers staying true to it.
