Cheapo SxS shotguns..
« on: June 23, 2012, 05:11:22 AM »
I have been thinking about getting a short barreled side by side for bear and "tent camping" defense. I have never shot one before and I have a question about the trigger(s).

There are two triggers,  one of them is set back behind the other. Is it safe to pull the triggers both back at the same time to fire both chambers at the same time? I cant imagine the guns are made to take this kind of punishment but I know nothing about sxs's. And yes, Im aware that the recoil would be a bit stout  ;D

Thanks guys

i grew up with  SXS 12s

you don't want to pull both triggers

for any reason OTHER  than a bear on you like  martin on zimmerman
or just for fun/ pain.......[speaking drom expeience...see for yourself]

2 triggers is simple and more reliable set up [front is right/ rear is left and tighter choke]
single triggers are not always selective either tho they are faster

i like the O/U now better  but the SXS is such a classic
stoger outback might be what your looking for..[drawback...non-selective trigger bottum first]

Safe prolly. Painful DEFINITELY. You likely will not want to do it a second time.

Safe probably but not recommended. I do prefer two triggers myself, once you are familiar with them they are faster and more versatile than a single. The only reason to pull double would be a self defense situation where you needed absolute maximum shot density to guarantee a hit, not just for energy downrange.
