I managed to pick about 18 or so good zucchini and about a dozen acorn squash over the last week(one per plant)...but that'll be all I get this year. My cucumbers, zucchini, and squash are riddled with bacterial wilt from cucumber beetles this year. Never had a real problem with them before, but there was a good population of them this spring (presumably due to the mild winter) and I didn't get them under control nearly fast enough. Just for fun, I had some jumbo pink banana squash out as well - they were the first to go. I didn't get a single squash from them. My only hope is the Butternut and Buttercup squash on the far end of the garden. I'm not holding out much hope, though - the wilt seems to keep creeping across the garden.
Speaking of tomatoes, I have a lot of little runts starting to mature now. 2 or 3 inches across at the most, but they're supposed to be beefsteaks! Most of them are rotting off at the bottom, anyway. My Romas look silly, too. More like little cherry tomatoes. It'll take a whole lot of them to make any paste. Oddly enough, the peppers are lookin pretty good, though. Oh well. I'm ready for next year. This one was a bust for me.
