Turkeys
« on: May 04, 2012, 01:41:23 AM »
Anyone having any luck?  I have been out every morning this week except this one.  I took the week off to hunt.  Some gobbles but not too turned on.

A little bit of everything happening here, WV. Friend found a hen on nest with 11 eggs. I've seen several hens still running with gobblers. They are gobbling hard at first light then calm down till around mid morning and then pick back up.

My WV report, 2 jakes, 2 long beards spotted, no hens and no gobbling. It was fogging the rain down till about 0900 tho. No shot presented, 250-300 yards and didn't have my range finder and was using a  22 hornet.

Saw 8 of them sunday morning. A few toms are still strutting but come slowly to the call. Some have just "gobbled" at the call once and walk away. Freezer is full, but I still like to call them in. I listen to them at night getting up on their roost, then go out early next morning and watch them fly down. Don't take a heck of a lot to amuse me, huh?

Tons of rabbits. Deer here are just starting to shed winter coat. Leeks are up, dandelions are fresh, ahhh ..... life is good.

DANNY-L, thank you. I go into the woods everyday, rain, shine, snow etc. Better than television.
