Colorado killer: What's a lawyer do in a case like this?

What do defense attorneys do in radical cases like this? It's got to be a bit of a resume builder, but also a more or less hopeless task.

Ask for a million and plead insane. I might add we will pay the bill.

Insanity is evident, though some legal opinions say that will not helpn the Feds case.
I don't really understand the feds law or how it acts out with this one.
I am of the opinion that he is hopeless as a human and like a dog gone bad, it is time to put him down.

My understanding is an insanity plea requires proof the perpetrator did not know right from wrong. They will be helped by him not running after he did it, so even though most insanity pleas fail, his might succeed.

The lawyers will do what they do best. Bring in a bunch of so called experts, and try to put up enough smoke and mirrors, to confuse the jury. Remember. Win, lose, or draw, the perp goes to jail, and the lawyers go to the bank, and do interviews for money, and maybe a book or two. It's all free advertisement for them. The defense will be "so concerned" about this blatantly guilty trash, and will make the witness look bad, and the perp into the poor victim that know one tried to help. It just wasn't his fault. The system failed him. ???

Dee explained it pretty good. It's all about MONEY and I'm sure they are lining up to see who gets on the money train.
