No 7-08 Superlite?
« on: July 19, 2012, 02:47:04 AM »
Ok, I'm seriously frustrated!  After salivating over a superlite 7-08 accessory barrel for a year, I finally decided to drop the hammer on one.  So I sold my wonderful little .45 colt carbine barrel and a good 7-08 ejector barrel to fund this project.  I called on Wed and talked to a gentleman that told me my two Handi's that I bought new in 2008 from dealers, ( the 45 carbine and a 9" twist 223 extractor) were too old to add a barrel to.  I had a hard time believing that these guns (both HY #'s) sat in inventory somewhere for over 8 years!  So Brian came to my rescue and told me my frames are fine.  Now I just got off the phone with Lisa and she told me that I can only order a standard 22" 7-08 through the program and that part number F404488 is not in the program and any barrel other than the standard taper 22" HAS NEVER BEEN OFFERED.  So Petemi, you have never bought your two 7-08 superlite barrels and are not presently shooting them! These people are crazy!  Help!!!!  44 Man

Well, Lisa is correct that the 20" 7mm-08 barrel has never been listed on the acc barrel page, but it has been available and may still be, best check with Brian for help again, although they may well be out of them by now.  :-\

Quick, Lisa was the one recommended as knowing what the 'real' inventory of barrel were.  And she told me that they have NEVER MADE a 7-08 superlite, only the standard 22" barrel.  I'm about ready to go to Jay's and buy that nice little 7-08 youth model they have there on sale!  But that's not what I want!  44 Man

Sounds like Lisa needs a little updatin, ask her what barrel comes on a model SB2-7YC!  ;D You may have no choice but to buy the one local if they have no barrels left, just swap the stock out and you're good to go.  ;)

I just hung up the phone from talking to 'J B' and I can only get the barrels that are listed on the website, and that ain't one of them.  I might have to do that Quick, but then I need to come up with some more money.  44 Man

Check with Brian first, if anyone can help, he'd be the one.  ;)

Buy the youth model, and let me know what stock you want.  Maybe we can do a trade deal.

I do have to apoligize for my rant on here, I was taken by surprise by not being able to order one after I really had my heart set on a lite barrel.  And I know the people at CS are just doing what they are required to do from the rules they have to work with.  I now have a line on one from a friend who has the youth 7-08 so so I'm going to be ok....  whew!  Again, my idea of a nice single shot rifle is one that is short, light, and 'Handy' (pun intended), and the 7-08 lite barrel fit my ideals.  So I'm going to be smiling again!  I'd better lay in some more .284 bullets to reload, this is going to be a fun summer!  Thanks again for letting me vent, it's good to have all these friends here to help a guy out!  44 Man

I like what you are putting together.  Be sure and tell us how it groups when you can.

Geeze Lewis, it's too bad Patty and I can't make the shoot in August.  We could have had a 3-way duel of the 7mm-08 Superlites.  Then we could swap them around and see if the best is the rifle or the shooter ::)   Maybe we can do it here sometime.  It'd be fun.  I'm glad you got your problem solved.
