New .308 Extractor Question
« on: July 20, 2012, 01:59:01 AM »
I just picked up a new HandiRifle in .308 Win. When I insert a snap cap or a round, the extractor is just touching the round creating a little drag preventing it from dropping in freely. It's a easy finger push to seat the round. On my .357 the rounds drop in freely. Do I have a problem with the .308 that should be looked before shooting?

The extractor has to be spring loaded to snap up into that groove for a rimless round, thus what you are experiencing. If there is a sharp edge on the ext. that scratches too much you could carefully stone it a bit.

That's normal for rimless rounds, the 357 is rimmed. You can decrease the spring pressure by removing the extractor and spring and flatten the leaf spring a little to reduce the arch, the rear roll pin needs to be knocked out to remove the extractor.
