Glock barrels
« on: July 14, 2012, 10:09:05 AM »
Are there after market barrels that fully support the case head for Glock handguns or is this possible with the Glock design? If there are such barrels available who sells them and what calibers are available? Thanks

What calibers are we talking about?

9mm and 357 glocks support the case as well as anything.

Later 40's tend to be OK

10mm and 45's are not well suited to hot rodding with a factory bbl

Lone wolf, bar sto, kkm are just a few aftermarket glock barrel makers

Thanks, I intend to go back to a Glock 23 for CCW and I am strongly considering a G20SF in 10mm for a short range deer killer. I load everything I shoot and don't "hotrod" but do intend to get the potential  that is available for handguns. I will look at those manufacturers and see if they say anything about a fully supported case head.

I have two Glock 40s, a 35 and a 22. I rarely shoot factory ammo, but pick up a lot of once fired .40 brass at the club that was fired in Glocks. Haven't seen any bulged cases in years. I reload the cases and shoot them over and over until I lose them. Don't think you'll have any problem with brass fired in any Glock manufactured in the last 15 yrs or so.

edit: Perhaps I should add that I don't treat the .40 any differently than any of my other pistol calibers. My standard loads are the 170 Missouri Bullet LSWC to about 1000fps to make major, and the 155gr LSWC from MB to about 840fps for minor. These numbers are from the factory 5.3" barrel in the 35.
