Creating a 414
« on: May 31, 2012, 03:35:20 AM »
Having a 357 Max converted to 414.   A simple rechamber the cylinder, modify the ejector, bore and rifle the barrel, remark caliber on the shroud, and blue the gun..  Expecting a 6 month wait.  I'll post pics when it is done.

why go through all that money and still not have an original? If you rechamber it to 358 gnr. you kill two birds with one stone you have a cartridge thats more powerful than both of them and you only need one gun.that will save you $750 for  another 357 S.M. and another bundle on the one you have now.Unless you really want a 41 cal. Just a thought.   blksqurl

Good question.  I've got 357 and 375 bore DWs and the 445s are pretty common.   I needed a 41 bore DW for my long frame "set."   I seriously considered Gary Reeder's 445 based 41 cal wildcat cartridge (41 GNR #2) that he does on his Kodiak Hunter.  It was actually hard for me to not go for the 41 GNR #2.   My decision was based on wanting a straight wall case.  Gary has done extensive testing and built a lot of guns to prove his concept but I wanted a 414..
