Different Perspective
« on: July 25, 2012, 08:12:04 AM »
While researching for my current 1819 10 inch motar project (near completion) I found this article I had never read before.  It gives a good idea what cannon and mortars were availible for the Fort Sumter battle.  http://www.civilwarhome.com/fosterftsumter.htm

Excellent read. It must be one thing to shoot from an exposed battery where if things got to hot you could retreat
until conditions improved. But to be at a fixed post with so many guns firing and the use of hot shot that basically the union soldiers just had to bear the onslaut of all that fire. They must have bred some very tough men back in them days. Frank
