need info

ive got a muzzleloader on hold at a friends gunshop. It is a hawken style with the stock all the way out to the end of the barrel. The only markings on the whole gun is "rex maxey"stamped on the top side of the barrel and thats it. not really even sure what caliber but a very nice gun. Does ayone know what ive got?

Maxey was a well known and respected barrel maker/gunsmith/competitive shooter in Kentucky back in the 1960s-1980s. It's quite possible he built complete guns also, but I don't know if he did or not.  Nor do I know if he's still above ground.

I think he resides in the happy hunting grounds in the sky now, not sure though.

Sounds like you have a Kentucky style rifle. The Hawken rifles were nearly all half stock rifles.They did, I believe make some in full stock, but most by far were Half and in bigger cal's than the Kentuck rifles.They had old Grizz to contend with out west :D
