Ruger Mk III 6" barrel..what's it worth to buy?
« on: July 23, 2012, 01:10:52 PM »
Hi guys, I looked at a Ruger Mk III in .22LR with a 6" bull barrel and adjustable target sights today at my local gun store. It is there on consignment and they are saking $275. It's in like new conditon and has black grip panels with the red ruger emblem. I have wanted the same gun with a 4" barrel for years but am thinking of buying this one. Is it worth the $275 used but in great condition and what about the Mk III? I have no knowledge about these guns except for borrowing a 4" for partridge hunting in Maine and really liking the gun...Thanks for any and all help and input....<><....:)

A 4" carries better in a strong side holster if you are sitting a lot, otherwise a 6" is fine and you benefit from the longer sight radius. If you pass on this one and wait for a better deal.........???
FWIW, a while back I got tired of getting a charlie-horse kicking my own butt for passing up on what I wanted when a nice example came along. See if they will call him with your offer, but in the end will another $25-50 out of your pocket really make a difference?

The price seems O.K., you could swing through gunbroker & see what people are asking.

Offer them $250 out the door, and shoot it until you find a 4" model.  you can always get your money back at that price.
