I had the same problem that Graybeard had. Shot a MK11 in silhouette quite abit.(averaged around 2000 to 2500 rds a year for 5-6 years back in the late 80's and early 90's) I was never comfortable taking it completely apart, so usually just took the grips off and sprayed it down with a gun scrubber of some variety. And run a patch or 2 down the barrel. A friend of mine came over and had basically the same experience that Bill had. He took it apart, we cleaned it, and when it came time to put it back together, it took a better part of an hour. So, I shot it for a few more years, and never took it apart again. gypsyman
