Hi All,

I'm 68, retired, just back from spending 15 years in Scotland (where the only thing you can shoot is a camera), consequently the first thing I wanted to do when I got back was look at firearms. I came across the H&R Handi-rifles and their classical design appealed to me, a little more searching and I came across GrayBeardOutdoors.com, a perfect match...

I'm interested in range shooting with iron sights. My sons are in the Army and I go shooting with them. They are pushing me toward an AR15 or some variant but I think the H&R Handi-rifle is what I want, I'd like the target model CR-3855, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to find one, but I'll keep looking.

Anyway, this looks like a great place to meet like-minded individuals...

Andrew

Welcome, sir!

I'm a new guy from north Texas myself.  Seems like a decent sort of place so far.

Thanks for the warm welcome,

I'm in the Ft. Bliss area. My son and I shoot at the range at the Ft Bliss Rod and Gun club. I want to do some distance shooting so I'd like to get an H&R CR-3855 Target model but of course it's discontinued so my only hope is finding a used one. Barring that I'll probably get the CR-1871 Buffalo Hunter which is available.

I have acquired my first Handi, a .223 Rem, 22" barrel and a scope. My son had a red dot that he wasn't using so I removed the scope and I'm using the red dot instead (I wanted something close to iron sights). Here's my baby:
