I have a pistol-grip Lightning BLR. I love the platform, and love the pistol grip. I don't care about the nostalgia aspect of lever guns & cowboys, and the pistol grip fits me much better than the straight grip. I don't much like the cartridge mine is chambered for (243 Win), and I'd really like a take-down. A local shop has a take-down now in a chambering I could live with, but it's a straight stock. I'm contemplating buying that gun and swapping some parts to get a pistol-grip take-down BLR. Subsequently, the then-to-be-straight-grip gun may or may not stay in the cabinet.
According to a place I believe to be reliable (handles LOTS of Brownings & BLRs for repairs), the receivers for the straight-stock and pistol grips are the same. Thus, I expect that my current gun's butt stock will bolt right on (anyone tried that, just to be sure?). Clearly, the lever itself would have to be changed in order to fit the curve of the pistol grip. Would anything else in the receiver or trigger group need to be changed over? Thanks for any help or insight.
