Thanks for posting your patterns MoGorilla, as well as letting us know how to find them, in the cap & ball forum. I have been unable to find a capper that will work with my pocket revolvers. I had an alteration made to the tip of my right thumb in a punch press back in the late sixties. My left hand can't seem to get the hang of placing a cap on a nipple. As a result, I can't afford (keep dropping caps in the grass) to shoot the small revolvers as much as I would like to. Not to mention the aggravation I go through. I think you are on to a good thing with your leather gizmos, and I would like to make a couple to see how they work in the small space provided on the little .31s and 1862 police I have been ignoring for too long. I have the shape, but if you would be so kind as to furnish some dimensions, it will save us some experimenting, not to mention leather. I read on the cap & ball forum quite a bit, but don't post very often. Just thought I would tell you, that this isn't the first useful tip I have gotten from you, as well as the other regulars. Keep up the good work guys. You have really helped us "wanna knows".  cowpox

The top one will do for rifle and shotgun and the bottom one on pistols if you elongate those circles to fit into the cylinder depression.

The top capper worked well on my Pietta 1860 Colt, but I think any capper would work on it.  It seems to have a little larger than normal openings around the nipples.  The bottom one was in response to the fact that only the 1st only worked on one pistol.   Size wise, they are all 2.75" diameters, through the middle from cap to cap.  I had 9 oz. leather laying around, but I think 6-8 would be easier to work with.  On the bottom pattern, I trimmed out a little from each point to fit my 1851 pietta colt.   I think each pistol has its quirks and once the most cantankerous of the guns was satisfied, the cappers worked for all of them.
