I have a friend of mine who is a great shot.  He gets around 90-95 clays in a 100 round course with 12 gauge.  He can get 80 with a 410 and uses the 410 to try to improve and to make it more of a chalenge.  Like I said, the 410 used to be a primary squirrel, rabbit, and even quail gun years ago because the shells were less expensive and a farm wife could handle it if need be.

I own one.  it is a ton of fun..... a reloader will be needed....cause you will shoot em so much...

I have been working through some cycleing issues, first it would peel brass back or catch on the edge of the barrel.

this was solved by "adjusting" the extractor.

current problem is it sometimes hangs up mid stroke, which is annoying.

oh and i really wish it had changeable chokes or at least a modified.....

regards

L

oh also it only takes 2& 1/2 shells only

and is smoothbore.

if you cant kill rabbits and squirrels with a 410 you need to practice your shotgun skills. Ive used a 410 for rabbit hunting just about all my life and never felt undergunned. Out to 20 yards which is about the farthest shoots come when running rabbits with dogs it kills just as well as anything else. Now if your talking phesants or ducks the possibility of longer shots and flying shots make it a bit small. But for rabbits and squirrels it kills as well as anything and doesnt tear up eatable meat like a 20 or 12.
Is that by experience or is it your opinion?

I have a Marlin 410 and love it. I don't know why but I do. It is heavy and impratical for a lot of things.....but I just enjoy it. It will only take 2.5 inch shells. I saw a good deal on one and just had to have it.

My first shotgun was a 410. I hated it! However! I found that I hit more wing shots than did my friends, and that it truly was, a great rabbit and squirrel gun. When I got old enough I went to the 12 guage, but I have been lookin at an 870 youth in 20 for squirrels. The 410 shells cost more than 20 or 12 around here.

I have an H&R Tamer, great fun to shoot and deadly on pest birds, killed alot of starlings with it. I have other shotguns but the Tamer is the one that goes walking with me.
