Numrich barrel
« on: February 05, 2004, 05:33:48 PM »
I bought a used barrel from Numrich for my No1 MK3.
They are listed as "Original barrels, available stripped or with front and rear sights. Outer barrel shows some blue wear, bore is good. 25-1/4" long. Used, good condition."

They sent me a D.P.'d barrel.  D.P. is stamped on the flat and the muzzle crown has been stamped and damaged.

I e-mailed them yesterday and told them it was a drill pattern barrel and was basically scrap. The last 1/2" of the barrel had no rifling left at all!

I asked them to send me a replacement.  I let you all know what happens.

Anyone have any dealings with this company?  I hope they make good!

SeaBass:  Numerich is usually pretty good about that stuff but you are buying a surplus bbl and often these things (surplus stuff) are just that, surplus junque (for the collector - LOL).

Lots of times, and most often I would imagine, barrels and other parts are pulled from rifles that are scrap and good for only parts.  This would mean to me a buncha wear and barely serviceable stuff.

I would hope Numerich honors your request but I think a replacement might be only a bit better.

Honestly SeasBass, if you are looking to turn that #1 SMLE into a good and accurate shooter, you may want to get a new barrel from a good barrel maker and install that.  With a sound action and a new barrel you could make yourself an excellent sporter.................  Just my 2 cents worth here though.  HTH.  Mikey.

I ordered a barrel from numrich for my 8MM mauser that was rated verygood to excellent condition for $37.50 and I have to say the bore was/is excellent.  Some of this used stuff is still in top shelf condition. I'm sure they will make it right.                                BigBill
