Your 270 Win is at 6.5 pounds so that doesn't qualify as a light trigger either. You have some options on your trigger and they are in the FAQs sticky. You can do your own trigger job, pay a gunsmith to do it for you or I believe you can return your receiver to H&R and have them do it. H&R has a policy on min. trigger pull but it is a lot lower than 8.5 pounds. If it were my rifle I would head back to the range and see if maybe something else happen, something loose or broken maybe.
