Reduced loads for the 30-30

I would like to find some reduced loads for my Win. 94  30-30 to approx. the old  32-40 Win/Marlin cartridge using both 150gr - 170gr. cast bullets and jacketed soft point bullets (1200 fps - 1500 fps).   These would be for range use to 150 yds.  Any assistance is appreciated.

For jacketed bullets use a reduced( 60 %) from max load of H-4895
 
 
For cast 170 gr bullets
 
Unique min 7.0 gr for 1200 fps   to max of 10.6 gr  for 1560 fps        24" barrel
2400    min 15.0 gr for 1600 fps  to max of 18.5 gr for 1850 fps
 
Several other powders are useful as well
Herco, SR 4756, SR 4759, IMR 4227
 
150 gr cast bullets could use the same powders with the addition of Red and Green Dot

From a Winchester Western manufacturers catalog I happened to get from a gentleman named Ad Topperwein before he died in 1962 (jeez I'm old), it lists the 32-40 shooting a 165gr lead bullet at 1440'ps at the muzzle. I used that criteria in looking thru some of my old reloading manuals, I have them back into the 20's. Here's what I found that translates into modern components for the 30-30.


Using a 154 Lyman cast #308241 bullet
10.0grs SR4759 =1300'ps
9.0grs Unique =1300'ps, 11.0grs Unique max= 1690'ps


Using the Lyman 311440 150gr cast bullet with a gas check
9.5 grs Green Dot max =1479'ps
9.0 grs Herco max =1386'ps


Using the Lyman 173grs 311291 with a gas check
10.6grs Unique=1568'ps max
9.0 grs Green Dot =1348ps max
11.5 grs Herco =1538'ps max


If you like a low recoiling round out of a 94, try 35.0grs H335 under a 110gr Carbine bullet. Every 94 I've ever shot them out of loves the load but be aware, it has a HUGE muzzle flash and it sounds like a cannon. It really turns a 30-30 into a fabulous carry varmint rifle. Velocity is about 2250'ps and the kids love to shoot these loads.

You can get a similar performance without that huge fireball by using IMR 4198,3031, 4894 with powder charges lower than H-335

7 grs of unique.
15 grs of 2400
17 grs of aa 5744
 All three have worked well for me over the years with a variety of cast and jacketed bullets from 150-170 grs.
The 5744 load has worked well for swattin gongs out to 250 yds for us in the last couple of years.
