Sword-wielding robber shot, killed by Dairy Queen clerk  AP Posted on August 19, 2012 at 8:43 PM
Updated yesterday at 8:47 PM       LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Police say a clerk at a Las Vegas Dairy Queen shot and killed a sword-wielding, masked man who tried to rob the restaurant.
Detectives say the suspect was shot twice and was lying just outside the doors when officers arrived around 12:15 p.m. Sunday.
The suspect died at a hospital.
Metro Police Lt. Les Lane tells the Las Vegas-Journal the sword was at least three-feet long.
Authorities say the shooting appears to have been in self-defense but that detectives were investigating whether the gun used was properly registered.
They say only two employees and no customers were present at the time of the shooting.

Assuming the gun was properly registered and everything is legally in order, the next step is for DQ to fire the employee. That's the way it always happens with the big chains, isn't it?

When I worked at a liquor store 15 + yrs ago I actually had a guy pull 2 lockbacks on me from about 15 ft with me behind the counter. I pointed my 45 acp at him and said, you're even stupider than I thought. He left quickly.
I love stories with a happy ending but I'm betting that dq will fire the guy. POWDERMAN.

When I was a kid a local pharmacy kept getting robbed. This was back around 1960 or so. The owner got fed up and hired a guard you might say. The guy stood in a corner, with a good view, dressed in plain clothes and up against the wall with his hands behind his back. Sure enough the pharmacy was struck again. The robbers found out the hard way why the guy's hands were behind his back. He was holding a .45! Two dead thieves and word quickly got around that the pharmacy was not a place to try robbing!

Good catch it is Las Vegas. Isnt that Harry Ried's district? I bet they still come down hard on the guy.

I seriously doubt they have gun registration in Nevada not even in Las Vegas. I see that crap all the time on TV cop shows when they ask if the gun is registered. Hell no it ain't cuz there are darn few states with registration requirements and not that many of the cop shows are in such states.

I've seen Heratio on CSI Miami ask that question a hundred times. Ain't no dang gun registration in FL that I've heard of or anywhere in the south.

It sounds like Clark County Nevada (Las Vegas) requires handgun registration. Scratch that area off of the list of possible places to live someday:
