Updated today at 7:42 AM   (WHAS11) -- The college football season opens Thursday and which means fans will don their team gear to support their favorite team, but one T-shirt is causing a lot controversy.

A photo of an Ohio state fan T-shirt is causing quite an uproar online. The shirt reads "I'd rather shower at Penn State than cheer for the Wolverines,” referring to former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky’s recent conviction.

The Michigan Wolverines are Ohio State's biggest rivals. A spokesperson for OSU said the T-shirt is not a university sanctioned shirt and they are appalled someone would make light of the tragedy at Penn State.

That's funny. It's only controversial to people with a vested interest in Penn State, or other people easily offended. I.e., this is a sensational idea for a T-shirt and it should be applied to other messages.
