Got the old Douglas .50 up an shooting great!
« on: September 08, 2012, 12:04:23 PM »
I posted earlier about this smokepole. Well, days have gone by and my friend's smokepole is now re-born. Took everything down an carefully worked on each part. My friend has never shot this, has no knowledge of them, and just gave a fella $50.00 for it. It was stored away in a corner of an old barn, rusting away. So, this is what it looks like now. It was a joy to see this thing come together. Will it shoot? Oh yeah, an it does so with fantastic accuracy. The ox patch with the .50 cal. round ball with 70 grains of 2f. The muzzie is so heavy you don't feel a bit when she goes off. Just the beautiful smell of powder an smoke!
I am so darn happy about it that I just can't explain it any further.......

Thanks fella's for the kind words. I'm going to try to take this down to Friendship, Indiana next Spring for the shoot's in June. I believe that would give me enough time to fart with. All this will come together if my friend agree's to it. That, and I haven't been there for some time now and when I have gone in the past, it's like nothing else in this world. Good folks, good food, good guns, good shooters from all over........
