I make my drowners and slidewires out of 1/8 cable(unless a customer requests 3/32). The 1/8 inch cable lasts much longer than 3/32 ,with far less kinking.
I make them with adjusable loop ends and use an L lock for the drowning slide.
Most times on my own line, I use wood stakes on the upper end and rebar on the lower end, but the adjustable loops allow me to stake with pretty much anything.
