6.5 TCU ??
« on: September 04, 2012, 03:11:08 PM »
The post by Dinny about a 6.5 Grendel and Ibgp3's post about the 6,5 TCU,,got me to thinking.Usually a situation that winds up costing me money  :o , so I began researching the 6.5 TCU using my favorite  bullet in the world(NBT 120 gr bc is .458)
it looks like I can easy get 2300 fps and have only 6.2 pounds of recoil.
Those numbers look awful doable for me.
Question one, using a H&R 223 barrel who would you reccomend for the rebore???
Qustion two, any one willing to take a guess as to cost. ???
Question three,Who has dies available???   thanks, Doug

I would think Wayne York would be up to the task. (IF he has the proper sized reamer) If I am not mistaken, 300$ is the magic number.

6.5 TCU was of moderate popularity back where people where still smacking steel with the contender... I had a 7mm TCU back them. Both where quite efficient cartridages.

Good luck in your quest!

Sure you dont want to go the whole hog and make it a 7?; quite a selection of projectiles for 'em.

I agree that there are a lot of good 7mm bullets to be had.But in another lifetime I killed everything ,in Co,Wy and Mt, that was legal to hunt with a 6.5. So I want to stay with it.  Doug

Sure cant argue experience like that, Doug!
The 6.5s definitely go beyond the .257s.
