barrel question 30 30

I had a frame that I didnt have a barrel for and found a 30 30 barrel that fits it pefect but it has an odd forend attachment.It has a stud sticking down with a notch and the forend either pops on or has a latch that locks it on anyone seen this before.This looks like some kind of ultra light barrel because the top is alot smaller than the base at the back.It doesnt say anything on it but 30 30 no nef or h r
