Do you use a Turkey Vest?  If you do, what do you look for in vest?  What features(like a built in seat, etc.) do you demand a vest have?  Lawdog

i consider my vest to be essential... it serves two vital functions, one is to hold my decoys while i walk, the other is to provide me with some insulation between the cold/wet ground and my butt.  i generally take my vest off when i get to a spot despite the fact that it's designed with a built in seat cushion that's intended to be used while you're still wearing the vest.  i put a hodge-podge of calls in the pockets although i rarely use most of them.  the only other important role i use the vest for is storage for all the crap inbetween hunts... i always know where my gloves, facemask, diaphragms, shells, etc are because i put them in the vest when i'm done for the day.

I have a vest and I love it, I wish I could find the same thing in blaze orange for other still hunting.

It has a built-in seat that drops down but folds up into the back when you are moving so it doesn't hit the back of your legs. The seat is kind of like one of those fold up "stadium" chairs, it's got a back hinged to it and adjustable straps that keep the back upright. The padding in the seat could be better only because I have to sit still so long during the season. It's got a game bag thats got a water resistant liner. This is great because you can carry large items like water bottles and carry out your bird fully enclosed. The shoulder straps have large "pads" made out of flexible plastic that adjust to stay on your shoulders when you adjust the straps. It of course has many pockets. It also has a hunter-orange flag attached at the top of the game bag that you can pull out or hide.  I wish this was a bit larger. It's about 5X10.

I like the vest because it distributes the weight of what I'm carrying. Also, I can keep all my gear in it and if I have to take off my coat, all I have to do is take it off and put it back on and I know I've got everything.

:D  These vests sound nice but I'm on a hunting equipment spending freeze. I have a camo duffle with a shoulder strap. It's waterproof.I carry a canvas poncho that I spread on the ground to keepfrom getting wet and a seat cushion ($3 from the gardening section of Fleet Farm). I put my calls (more than I need) , decoy and extra warm hat in there too.I've been able to carry enough stuff in it so that I feel I'm well equiped. The turkey goes in the poncho and slung over my shoulder if I should get one.

a vest is a turkey hunters friend.  up until this year i never had one.  i went to walmart and pick one up for around $25.  it has 11 pockets one is made for a box call.  it has a nice waterproof game pounch and an orange flag that is in a zipped pounch that can stay hidden until time of use.  has a little padding on the back as well as the seat cushion.  enough shell loops to carry a full box of turkey loads.

i used to carry everything in a camo backpack but stuff rattled around too much.  wasn't easy to get calls and shells out when i needed them.

This will be my first year using a vest too...I purchased a Skyline Apparition Green camo vest for $30 on clearance from Skyline.  I, too used to carry my stuff in a back pack or hip pack.  Too much rattling around.  Hopefully the vest stops all that.  Plus I will have somewhere to easily carry my decoys.

I use one of the Turkey Loungers from BPS. I can lean back without having to be against a tree. It's comfortable, and has lots of pockets.

I got a nice turkey vest at walmart at the end of last turkey season.
I use it for all my hunting now. it is light and has lots of pockets to keep my most used stuff close at hand. I also use a back pack. in it I put my decoys,  blind, lunch drinks and other things I may not need to get at in a hurry but still what to be with me. when I am deer hunting I will tie a string to the back pack and leave it on the ground and Carry the turkey (deer) vest up the tree with me I will then hang it on a hook beside me.
