Choate stock?
« on: September 05, 2012, 05:56:40 PM »
I have a Handi in .223 Rem with the wooden stock.  Someone has offered me a good deal on a synthetic Choate stock.
Are  these any improvement over the factory?  Past the tactikool look?

Thanks

Which Choate are you talking about? I believe they make all the synthetic Handi stocks except the Handi-Grip. I have a Handi with the Survivor stock, and it is just fine. The hard but plate may be uncomfortable on a heavy kicker, but that is more about the shooter. The Survivor stock is hollow, and can be quite noisy when hunting unless you put something in it to quiet it. I haven't held a Handi with the Varmint stock, but I have used other rifles with the Ultimate Varmint stock and really liked them.
Bottom line is whether you like it or not. If you can test drive it it would help you decide.
