Grizzly bear proetection
« on: September 06, 2012, 01:28:26 PM »
I read an article from a fish & game official on avoiding being eaten by grizzlies. Since there are no grizzlies in the dessert I am fairly safe but in the quest for knowledge I'll share what I learned with the GBO family.

In grizzly country it is reccomended to wear small bells and carry pepper spray. When you see bear tracks you follow them until you see a poop pile. Black bear poop contains berrys, nuts etc, Grizzly bear poop contains small bells and smells like pepper. In that case you should go the other way.

Thats the advice we give to all the Cheechackos.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I am thinking better advice would be keep your head out of your backside, carry pepper spray and a boom stick. That's just me though.

I know the plains Indians did not want to run into a grizzly on the plains, it would generally end up bad.

To many of the bleeding hearts do not realize "food chain economics".

Shu:  You are right.  A gun is the only thing that puts us at the top of the food chain, and then it's iffy.  Thankfully Grizzlies are not as smart as Wolves and Coyotes.  But they are sometimes smarter than humans.

I'm thinking about a story about a .44 Mag with hardcase 240gr bullets, and... the front sight filed off.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

A 460 Smith works good too.
