Need some advice on a project
« on: September 11, 2012, 04:47:29 PM »
Ok so I got an idea. I am trying to build a switch barrel lever action. I am interested in taking a Rossi 410 lever action shotgun and setting it up to shoot shoot with a second barrel setup the 460 s&w. looking for some help has anyone got any ideas on this as this is the strangest one I have done. I am going to base this off of the old take down lever actions. Any ideas would be appreciated.

The biggest hurdle will be getting the vastly different length rounds to feed.. The is also a great difference in pressures generated.. so firing pin will likely have to be bushed to a smaller diameter.

That might get dangerious fast. The max presure on a 410 is abt 14,000 psi. The max presure on a 460 is 60,000 psi. I do not think that an action made for a shotgun would hold up to that kind of presure. I went the other way. I built a 410 slug gun on a Moslin action.
