I've never been happy with the performance of the XTP at typical handgun velocities, its just been too hard to get them to open up. However, pushed through a muzzleloader, they become one of my favorite bullets, no doubt. I've used both the .44's and .45's, both around 1600 fps, at this speed I get good expansion to 150 yards with shoot through when placed behind the shoulder on the deer we have here, mature bucks usually being in the 200 pound class. Last year I went to the 300 grain magnums, I still got good performance on the deer I shot at 115 yards plus my accuracy is better with the 300's.
