You only need the 1:1 thickness over the chamber and a couple of inches in front.  The rest can be less thick.  Start with your cartridge case design; the rest will follow from that.

so im going to use my old corps breech idea to attach the inner barrel.

here is some pic







so would welding the barrel  to the breech be ok? or should i some how mill it to thread in?

the breech is 2" thick and is welded to a 8"diam barrel. so when firing this you guys are correct..not a real bang.everything was muffled.liking the idea of a inner barrel to send the sound right up the outer barrel.. This is why im here to ask questions to you who are the experts.I really am thankful.

One of your drawings showed a flared end to the inner barrel, I would instead use a set of bushings this will help keep in in line with the barrel.  Really looking good.

quick question.. after i got my breech made how should i attach the barrel to the breech. should i have it thread in or should i have it welded.. i was thinking of threading it in then welded but want to have the right strenth and safty is number one.

cutting threads reduces the strength by about 50%

Welding should be done away from stress points, may require pre-heat or other precautions (have it done by a certified welder).

Shrink fit and welded is good.

have it done by a certified welder....

i wont be cutting corners so i will be getting that part done for sure by a certified welder..
