New Model Blackhawk Accuracy?
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:44:55 AM »
Just purchased a .357 NMB in a 6.5''  barrel ,used from my usual gun shop.I have had a GP100 6'' and a Taurus Tracker 6'' before and both were pretty good shooters in .357. Just wondered how the single action may compare.

I expect you will really like it, and  in a good seated position in the woods you can pivot to either side using each hand and eye without moving much and a knee up brace for a 'seated Weaver' hold. I had rotator cuff trouble a few years back and offhand was out, for sure and for certain, but it has come back now. Hope you have as good luck as I.

I don't have a 357, but I have a .45 colt / .45 acp convertible and it shoots a tad better than my Match grade .45 auto.  Very tight guns and consistent.  Weight is good to help with hold also.  I can hit a 10x10 gong consistently at 70 yards and a soup can bottom as far as 30 yards.

My large frame Blackhawk in 45 Colt is very accurate... out of the box

It is surprising for a $500 gun

the blackhawk line is great, however, you might find that you shoot a double action revolver like the GP100 better.  They both are great, just different.

I have a .357 / 9mm 6.5" convertible. Both cartridges shoot very well out of it. I have only shot at 25 yards offhand at an 8" paper plate. Looks like I will have to try seated with a knee rest and out a bit further.

Thanks, Billy

Mine with the 7.5" barrel in .357 shoots very well. I bought mine back in the 90s. Ideally the barrel needs to be turned as with most loads I have to have the rear sight as far left as it will go, some loads still go a bit right.

Mine (45 Colt, 5.5 inch tube) out of the box, will put 1.5 to 2 inches at 25 yrds.

all I did is replace the grips.
