First it was a peaceful protest so violence was not required and I consider use of pepper spray as violence. Could they just waited them out? Sooner or later they are going to have to eat, go to the restroom, etc.

You arrest them or ticket them according to the law. If they violently resist arrest then it is time for the pepper spray. In this case the cop was just administrating "street justice". Why were they not arrested after he sprayed them?

The punks were illegally blocking the sidewalk interfering and curtailing everybody elses rights. If it took pepper spray to get their attention, so be it, they got what they deserved. Maybe they will obey a lawful order next time, BUT THEY WON'T because they were PAID to disobey it seems. POWDERMAN.

Good idea. A good hose can do wonders about cleaning up dirt, mud, and rubbish from sidewalks, steps, etc. After the cleansing then decent law abiding folks can resume their daily lawful activities. POWDERMAN.

Well if I were breaking the law, and you were in charge of enforcing the law ,(AND TOLD ME TO LEAVE--BECAUSE I was breaking the law) then I guess I couldn't say much about it.
Should we feel sorry for the guys in jail because we wouldn't like to be jailed???

Well  if you just walk up and spray for no reason and are not a cop or such I would feel you were trying to disable me maybe to do more harm or kill me and might shoot you in self defense if I could not avoid the spray.
