Certainly makes a lot of noise but it could stand to be tuned.  :-)

I made one from 1/2 of a steel scuba tank. Thing drove me nuts after a while.  :o

Victor.

Hint, red plastic Folgers coffee cans fit in a steel scuba tank.  :)

They do indeed, Double D! Filled with concrete, just remember, you have to wire the sides so the concrete won't spread the sides out, making it unable to fit! I think you would enjoy your wind chimes much better if they were hung individually, with clappers that could be wind activated...that way, they each can give their unique gong without so many banging together all at once...BoomLover

Although interesting, I don't see how this fits in with the purpose of this BB.

As long as you don't have neigbor's or they are deaf.... go for it!  Carol had me put a set in the tree in the back.... one day I found them on the ground witht the wood frame broken.... I guess someone didn't like sleeping with them tinging all night....

Norm,

We have had a number guys get surplus gas pressure bottles to make bowling ball mortars.  After cutting the end off they found that the ball didn't fit...in fact one time after some did this they asked for ideas about what to to with the undersized tanks and this is what was suggested.

That post a long while back is what spurred the research to come up the correct bottle number listed in the references.

How about suspending them as cannon range targets.... if you are able to hit it you get a satisfying gong! as reply........
I know of a range that uses old propane bottels(empty) in such a way.........

Those wind chimes are mine . Originally there were 4  tuned to play songs with a 10-22 . Mary had a little lamb was my favorite .  I spent hours with big band saw  tuning the original 4 .Wife refused to let me set them out on the  range . She was afraid some one would miss and hit the house. :-)
So I added the rest . Wind  was blowing hard from the north the day DD took that video . Most of the time they are very mellow soft soothing music.  They do sound a bit angry when the wind blows hard .
They need a fresh coat of paint . They are set up to have individual clappers but they work well with out .
I paid 12$ each for the bottles . Promised the welding company who sold the bottles not to make explosive devices .
Shame on you DD , you did not have a can of powder  for size  comparison ;-)
Left Handed people are in their right mind .
