When America leaves Afghanistan
« on: October 04, 2012, 05:00:38 AM »
While I am looking forward to getting our personnel out of that quagmire/death trap, I am not looking forward to the aftermath killings & such of the Taliban take over. It's unfortunate, to be sure. However, "One" of the things I sincerely wish the Military would do, upon leaving, is "pour", not just spray, Agent orange on all their Poppy fields. Why keep the corruption going for the thugs? And since we are leaving, we don't need to "look the other way" and keep compromising our values/Laws for "their cooperation", so the hell with their illegal drug trafficing! Pardon my French...why allow that poison to continue? I thought we were still having a 'war on drugs"! It won't stop it, no, but its a good start.
Now again, let me reiterate, the aftermath of our leaving and the take over of the Taliban is going to be brutal...but we are NOT the Policemen of the world...we gave it a "half hearted" shot ( they never would "Let loose the Dogs of War" and finish it) so enough "nation building" already, bring our guys home.
Just had to rant....but thought others may have "wishes" they would like to express...not stirring th pot, just sometimes we need to vent...

I agree, just load the drones up with a modern plant killer and spray the poppy fields just before they are ready to harvest for several years to come.  Lost too many friends to agent orange.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

What we did was give a people a chance to change their lives and it seems as a group they chose not to. Shame for the ones who did as they will surely pay a high price.

Round-Up may be safer than Agent Orange....I guess I was thinking of some way to ruin the ground from growing anything. I really don't care what happens to Ahcmed the Taliban guy.
All Americans may not leave, true, and private companys/etc, are still better (to me) than our military. If a guy wants to risk his life for big pay, that's a different story, but our troops, who are best used to kill people/break things are not suited to Peace Corp/police duty. And I would give "training videos" to the so-called Afghan Police/Security guys...that way all they can do is shoot the TV instead of one of our guys!
My Airforce daughter only spent one month in Bagram, and it felt like a year to me, ha.
I think its "been time" to just Declare Victory and leave! Let the Tribes do their own thing, and if or when they ever train/send someone to attack the US again, hit them hard ( Tomahawks/drones,etc, all unmanned stuff) and come back home. Heck I know this is unrealistic, but I'm tired of the staus quo, our military deserves better leadership)

My youngest son served in Afghanistan as a Sgt. in the 82nd Airborne. He came back the first time with stories of a 15th Century War Lord society that has no interest in Democracy. We went there not to save, but to punish Afghanistan, for allowing terrorist training camps to flourish there. As far as "half-hearted"? Losing 2,000+ troops there was a little more than "half-hearted", but I get your point.
Afghanistan has been called for centuries: "The Graveyard of Empires". The Afghan is a warrior by nature, and possesses a "fanatical belief in Islam". He will never lay down, and you will never dig him out of the countless mountain caves. Alexander the Great, England, and the now non-existent Soviet Union found this out. Now we, like them, are "financially broke" by attempting to "alter history" for a country that is not interested in changing.
As far as spraying them with "agent orange", I would ask WHY? They are, like Mexico, only catering to the demand to the American population of "dope fiends". Why not just do away with the "dope fiend"? They are of very little value to society anyway, and are more of a burden than anything else.
Our problems overall, are not a problem of "nation building", but the attitude of such behavior. It is a "spiritual problem" that America has that is causing all this. We as Americans "collectively" are moving farther and farther, AWAY FROM GOD. The "farther we get away from God" the worse our country becomes, and the more confused our leadership becomes.
We are finally at the threshold of "an election where there is no lessor of". Either candidate will move us farther away from the "Light of God", and farther "into the darkness" of Satan.
Correct the "spiritual sickness of ignoring God", and the rest will take care of itself. You, the American voter may compromise, but God will not. You are only fooling yourselves.
